Overview
The Co-op has experienced one of the most successful turnarounds in UK business history. At the heart of this journey has been a commitment to their circa 70,000 colleagues every step of the way. Fundamental to this was the development with RP Global of My Co-op Career.
My Co-op Career is a framework which captures all opportunities created for their colleagues to get on in the business and flourish across the Co-op. These opportunities include learning, developing and career progression.
For My Co-op Career, we created three pathways, Core, Boost and Excellence which were developed to provide colleagues with the core fundamentals of their roles, a development platform for those wanting to take the next step in their career and the opportunity to excel in their current roles.
My Co-op Career provides colleagues with visibility and choice in terms of what they want to achieve. My Co-op Career has expanded throughout the Co-op across Food, Funeralcare, Logistics and HR.
Through launching My Co-op Career across the different businesses, the Co-op have been able to provide more visible options for their colleagues to develop themselves and their careers across the wider Co-op.

One year since the launch of the boost pathway, over half of the 2200 colleagues who took part were promoted.
Over £900,000 saved on waste across 542 stores.
Payroll saving of nearly half a million per annum through an increase in internal promotion versus external.
51% saving on induction costs.
Over the course of a year, a store will generate more than a week’s extra revenue with a My Co-op Career Store Manager in place.
